The easiest ways to get to Jerusalem from Tel Aviv ?

If you are staying in Tel Aviv and you want to spend a day visiting Jerusalem with me, it is very easy, cheap, fast and safe to take the train.

If you follow my explanations step by step, you will be surprised how easy it is.

Here is how it works :

There are 3 train stations in Tel Aviv.

According to the location of you hotel I will direct you to one of these stations: Tel Aviv Savidor Center, Tel Aviv Hashalom or Tel Aviv HaHaganah.

The easiest is to go there with a taxi.

Once you arrive at the station you will first go through a safety control, your luggage will be checked and you pass a security detector.

Immediately afterwards you will arrive in the central hall where you can buy your ticket.

You can either go to a counter and explain the vendor what you want, of if you are more adventurous, you can go to one of the many tickets machines.

You need to buy a DAY PASS for Tel Aviv-Jerusalem. The day pass costs 32 nis per person ( 9.50 $)

The day pass will allow you to take the train to Jerusalem, to use the lightrail in Jerusalem, to come back to Tel Aviv and take a bus back to your hotel.

After having purchased the ticket you will pass your ticket though a machine and go to the designated platform.

You need to hold on to your ticket as you will need it for the rest of the day.

The trains to Jerusalem leave every 30 minutes.

From Tel Aviv Savidor Center each half hour at 7 minutes past ( 8.37,9.07,9.37, 10.07 etc. from platform 4.)

From Tel Aviv Hashalom each half hour at 9 minutes past ( 8.39, 9.09, 9.39, 10.09 etc. from platform 2.)

From Tel Aviv HaHaganah each half hour at quarter to and quarter from ( 8.45, 9.15, 9.45, 10.15 etc. from platform 3.)

The train ride will be approximately 40 minutes.

Jerusalem is the final destination.

When you arrive you can either take 3 giant escalators or an elevator.

You will need your ticket to exit the station.

I will be waiting for you outside the train station and together we will take the light rail to the Old City.

The total travel time from your hotel in Tel Aviv to the Old City of Jerusalem will be approximately 2 hours.

But of course, if you prefer, you can also travel to Jerusalem with a private car and driver.

If you decide you want to be picked up by a private driver at your hotel, and meet me upon your arrival in Jerusalem, I can arrange that for you.

In that case I will coordinate with your driver and will meet you upon your arrival In Jerusalem.

The driver will be at our disposal for the day and can bring us to Mount of Olives, drop us off in one spot and pick us up in another spot.

Having a car and driver will give us a lot of flexibility, especially if you want to visit other parts of Jerusalem besides the Old City.

The driver will bring you back to your hotel in Tel Aviv at the end of the day.

The cost for a driver with a car for a maximum of 6 people is 400$.

The total travel time from your hotel in Tel Aviv to the Old City of Jerusalem will be approximately 1 1/2 hours.
